By now you've heard the story (bye-bye, 17-year producer and guitarist Chris Walla) and the songs (a slew have appeared in the last few weeks, led by single/music video "Black Sun"). Now you're at the final level, the honest-to-goodness full-length NPR stream of Death Cab for Cutie's Kintsugi, their eighth album, their first one since 2011's Codes and Keys.
It's too early for us to say exactly how soothing, rocking, depressing and impressing the record is, but we'll be back soon to let you know. In the meantime, listen for yourself:
Death Cab will release Kintsugi on Tuesday, March 31. Then the band will take the record—and its Walla-less lineup—on the road from April 10 till July 12. It's one of our most anticipated spring tours, in fact.
(Couldn't they have just teamed up with Marilyn Manson, though, rather than hitting the road at the same time? Way to miss a chance to make history, guys.)
