With 10 million-selling singles to his name (so far), Jason Derulo doesn't exactly need huge superstar features to sell records. But lucky for us, he's still interested in snagging 'em for his new album Everything Is 4, with his latest collabo marking his sexiest yet.
Above, take a listen to the just-released "Try Me" featuring none other than Jennifer Lopez. The tropical beat is perfect for the warm weather as Jason and J.Lo trade verses about giving into a summer love (listen up for Jason's line about the superstar's famous booty). Vocally, the best moments in the track come when the singers' high and low notes are layered, serving the listener some wonderfully sensual harmonies.
Derulo initially hit it big on the pop scene by sampling famous tracks—2009's "Whatcha Say" reinterpreted Imogen Heap's "Hide and Seek" while 2010's "Ridin' Solo" sampled The Verve's "Bitter Sweet Symphony"—so it's not unusual that we're hearing touches of other hit songs here. The beat in "Try Me" sounds a bit reminiscent of Marvin Gaye's "Sexual Healing" while the melody at times recalls Nick Jonas' "Jealous." But neither are close enough to call for a copyright lawsuit a la "Blurred Lines," which is always good.
