Prince, a man known for sexy smooth tunes and surprise performances, has announced a last-minute gig in Baltimore this weekend. Titled Rally 4 Peace, the singer will take the stage at the Maryland capital's at the Royal Farms Arena.
The gig is in honor of the death of Freddie Gray, a 25-year-old black man whose death was allegedly caused by police brutality. So far, six officers have been charged.
Prince will be joined by his all-female funk band 3RDEYEGIRL. A percentage of proceeds will be given to youth charities in the city. The New York Times reports that the event intended as "a catalyst for pause and reflection" following the massive upheaval that erupted over Freddie Gray's death. "Attendees of the concert are asked to wear gray," the Times writes.
