It's hard to believe it's been roughly six years since New Jersey emo icons Armor for Sleep were active, save for a few festival dates in 2012. We always anticipated a reunion was on the horizon, but today's news feels especially noteworthy. The group are scheduled to play a series of shows this Fall in honor of the 10-year anniversary of their second record, What To Do When You Are Dead.
The band shared the news on Facebook writing:
"Hello again. We are excited to announce that we will be playing a select number of shows to celebrate the ten year anniversary of "what to do when you are dead". The fact that so many of you have been listening over the years has meant (and still means) a lot to us, and this is our way of saying thank you for all the kind words and cool stories that you've shared with us over the years. This is gonna be fun. Below is a list of all the shows with ticket links. The ticket links go live this Friday the 24th… Hope to see you all at the shows...keep it real."
The record, which boasts of cult classics like "The Truth About Heaven" and "Car Underwater" laid the foundation for future pop-punk bands to explore concept records in very real ways. It was impressive at the time, this band from the suburbs writing a power pop-punk record with a linear, intricate narrative.
Here are Armor for Sleep's 2015 tour dates so far:
Sept. 18 at Starland Ballroom - Sayreville, NJ
Sept. 19 at the Trocadero Theatre - Philadelphia, PA
Oct. 8 at the Crofoot - Pontiac, MI
Oct. 9 at Metro - Chicago, IL
Dec. 11 at Regency Ballroom - San Francisco, CA
Dec. 12 at the Glass House - Pomona, CA
Dec. 13 at the Roxy Theatre - Los Angeles, CA
Dec. 19 at the Sinclair - Boston, MA
While you're at it, brush up on the emo revival. You wouldn't want to show up to one of these shows looking like a novice, right?
