Avicii took a major risk when he mixed bluegrass into his signature formula for "Wake Me Up," one of the most streamed songs of all time. The Swedish DJ is venturing into the country again, this time adding one of the genre's most badass bands into the mix.
Revealed on the producer's Le7els podcast, "Broken Arrow" features Zac Brown Band, which already is a cool idea if only for the fact that Avicii included the entire outfit in the recording when he could have easily just utilized Brown's signature power-twang and handled production otherwise. Vicii's clearly been polishing his recipe with this new cut sounding more like a electronic beats melded with country twang instead of disparate sounds heard in previous cuts. Listen here:
"Broken Arrow" is the latest cut we've heard from the DJ's upcoming Stories album, which looks to be another feast of musical genres a la his excellent debut full-length, True.
British pop god Robbie Williams is on board (for a song that the Killers' Brandon Flowers almost was on), along with Cherry Ghost's Simon Aldred. Look out for Bon Jovi, Billie Joe Armstrong, Matisyahu and more to feature when Stories drops in September.
