Update (7/10): Get ready to "awwww" even harder.
On July 7, news hit that Taylor Swift took to GoFundMe.com to donate $50,000 to a fan, Naomi, who is battling leukemia and would have to miss the singer's 1989 Tour for treatments. Turns out that act has a bigger impact, with the website increasing its donation limit from $15,000 to $50,000.
"Taylor Swift’s donation was so generous that it required us to increase the donation limit on the platform," wrote GoFundMe CEO Rob Solomon. "What Ms. Swift has done for Naomi and others can inspire the next generation of giving."
Let Tay-Tay be your inspiration to do something selfless and meaningful this weekend! Read the touching story and see Naomi's reaction below.
Original Story (7/7):You've heard she's America's sweetheart 5 million times now, but there's really no defense against Taylor Swift not deserving such a title.
Case in point: Meet Naomi, an 11-year-old Swiftie who recorded a heartbreaking video detailing how she had to miss Taylor's 1989 Tour to battle leukemia.
Tay caught wind of the video and not only donated $50,000 toward the young girl's treatment (petty change for one of the most powerful people in music, right?), but wrote an adorable message, too. Watch young Naomi read it below:
T-Swift's note—another of her famous personal touches—goes:
"To the beautiful and brave Naomi, I’m sorry you have to miss it, but there will always be more concerts. Let’s focus on getting you feeling better. I’m sending the biggest hugs to you and your family."
It's sad/unfair/mind-blowing that any child has to go through something like leukemia; this video's a reminder to never give up hope—in ourselves or in other people.
