Demi Lovato has said her new album represents her "badass" side, and a new cut, "Confident," certainly adds fuel to that claim.

The newly surfaced song is rumored to be the second single off her upcoming LP. It's a bombastic track that opens with regal trumpets and stomping, "Personal Jesus"-esque beats backing Demi's belts about dismissing claims that she's underrated. Similar to previous single "Cool for the Summer," Demi has a newfound love for sexual lyrics, boasting in the first verse: "It's time for me to take it / I'm the boss right now / Not going to fake it / Not when you go down." Listen to it below.

A July report from Billboard revealed that Lovato's team was considering a song titled "Confidence" as her forthcoming record's lead single; they chose "Cool for the Summer" for an appropriately seasonal hit. "Confidence" likely refers to this new song, which hits just as hard as her single and further indicates this being Demi's boldest LP to date.

No word on if this song surfacing early means the plans will change for a second single, but you can catch up on all the news with Demi's upcoming record right here.
