Sure, you have opinions about Jared Leto as the Joker in the upcoming Suicide Squad movie; we've seen it all over your Facebook, dude. So how about we take this in a different direction? Perhaps, arguably, the other end of the spectrum?
There's a spinoff of The Lego Movie in the works that will focus on Will Arnett's Batman character (The Lego Batman Movie, what else did you think?), and it's been confirmed that the role of the Joker will be played by comedian/Hangover star Zach Galifianakis.
The Hollywood Reporter said Galifianakis will voice the classic villain in the flick alongside Michael Cera as Robin—or at least he will if final negotiations go swimmingly.
Chances are you're more familiar with Galifianakis' on-screen work, but this isn't his first rodeo when it comes to voice acting. He appeared as Humpty Dumpty in 2011's Puss in Boots—his performance even garnered him an Annie Award nomination, which is not an easy task—and he's also lent his vocals to Bob's Burgers, The Simpsons, American Dad and more.
Not much else is known about The Lego Batman Movie at this moment, but a February 10, 2017, release date is penciled in for now. The Lego Movie directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller are back as producers, and Seth Grahame-Smith, who also wrote the script for the upcoming Beetlejuice 2, did the screenplay.
