Rap beefs got you a little worn out these past few weeks? Here’s an EDM feud for you.
Skrillex and Deadmau5 have seen their friendship take some hits this year, stemming from negative comments made about Skrillex's Jack Ü collaboration with Justin Bieber, "Where Are U Now," which has since become a Top 10 hit in the U.S. Skrillex took a small amount of offense, mostly shrugging it off but calling the mau5-headed EDM star an "asshole" in the process. Skrillex told New York's 92.3 AMP radio station this week:
"I'll always have love for Joel, because he’s put me on at an early time. But he's an asshole. And everyone knows that, he knows that. I think that’s kinda his thing. The one thing that is unfortunate about it is he has a record label and when you have a record label you've got to be a leader and he has people that are signed to him. I couldn’t imagine being a leader, going out [with] a public image being such a negative attitude."
Well, you had to figure there was going to be a response, but at least at first, it looked like it'd blow over rather than escalate, after he succinctly tweeted yesterday that he doesn't "give a f*ck tbh."
Alas, because this is the Internet and there are always plenty of f*cks to give, the man born Joel Zimmerman continued, adding that "he should have brought that up when i released his first album for him. whatever. you like what you like."
He concluded: "so YES @skrillex im SUPER SAD im not as cheerful, and super inspired by life like you. and im so SORRY im an asshole. but how about you let me worry about that shit."
He's remained mum on the subject since, as has Skrillex on his own Twitter account.
