"Heart-Shaped Box”: Instrumental Version, Recorded in February 12-26, 1993, Pachyderm Studios, Cannon Falls, MN

The internet gods have blessed us on this very Monday of Mondays. A handful of previously unreleased Nirvana demos and mixes—14, to be exact—have surfaced online, and we have a couple diehard Kurt Cobain fans/Reddit users to thank.

The grunge stans have unearthed and identified the tracks as Nirvana originals. There's a few alternative takes of "Old Age" from the band's Sound City recording sessions, different mixes of "Polly," “I Hate Myself And I Want To Die” and more.

Our fave of the bunch is an alternative version of “Heart-Shaped Box” (see above). Apparently it was recorded in February 1993 at Pachyderm Studios, Cannon Falls, MN. It's completely instrumental and features a really interesting, extended guitar solo. Listen to that glorious jam, then click through for the rest of the tunes.
