Walk the Moon just amped the pulse up another notch at Sunday's MTV Video Music Awards pre-show. The Cincinnati rockers performed their smash contender for song of the summer, “Shut Up and Dance,” for the pre-ceremony crowd.

The dudes pulled out the six-strings and the keyboards for the performance, which kicked off the VMAs pre-show. Frontman Nicholas Petricca shimmied across the stage—it is a song about dancing, after all—while leading the crowd in a singalong of that infernally catchy chorus.

The four-piece’s performance preceded an exciting night for Walk the Moon. The band is nominated for Best Rock Video, squaring off against Arctic MonkeysFall Out BoyFlorence + the Machine and Hozier for the honor.
