How great is Channing Tatum? The greatest, right? Foxcatcher, 22 Jump Street, Magic Mike XXL, all in the last year alone! He loves and cherishes a good puppy, as well.

Channing's next bullet point of résumé excellence is taking shape in the form of a motorcycle soaring across a canyon. Because Channing is going to play daredevil legend Evel Knievel in a movie. Possibly from a director who is also great.

Tatum has actually been eyeing the Knievel story for three years; his production company jumped on the project back in 2012, when Magic Mike writer and producer Reid Carolin was set to tackle the script.

The reason the film is picking up steam again, Variety reports, is that Darren Aronofsky is being courted to direct. The 46-year-old got his start with 1998's Pi and 2000's Requiem for a Dream; he most recently did 2014's Noah and 2010's Black Swan.

The Evel Knievel story would be Aronofsky's first biopic; The Wrestler seemed like it was about Mickey Rourke but was actually about a fictional brawler called Randy "The Ram" Robinson. That movie, like Channing Tatum, is great.
