Straight outta Industrial Revolution-era London, right? Right?
Now that we got the internet memeing out of the way: Ice Cube is attached to a redo of the classic A Christmas Carol film in the role of Ebenezer Scrooge, Deadline reports. He will also produce the movie, as he did Straight Outta Compton and many films before.
The movie, in this iteration titled Humbug, will be distributed by Universal and will feature the rapper-turned-actor in the lead role of the wealthy businessman who does wrong by everyone around him until one Christmas Eve when he's visited by the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future. Here, he'll be a real estate mogul.
Tim Story (Barbershop, Fantastic Four, Think Like a Man) is currently assigned to direct, while Todd R. Jones and Earl Richey Jones wrote the script that was bid on by Universal, MGM, New Line and Disney.
Story and Ice Cube previously worked together on Ride Along 2, out next year. A 2017 release for Humbug is rumored but not verified.
