Tokyo's second-ever Ultra Music Festival happened over the weekend and just like its parent event in Miami, there were a slew of surprise guests. The best—and most unexpected—came during Skrillex's headlining set, which closed down the dance fest on Sunday. Babymetal came out and the J-pop/metal trio gave the DJ set a heavy punch of their hardcore-kawaii sound.
Watch fan-recored footage above as Skrillex teases the crowd saying he's "going to bring some friends out," before the chart-topping ladies hit the stage to perform a bit of their viral hit "Gimme Chocolate!!" Skrillex did his best to keep up with the girls, adding a few yells during their set, but Babymetal were the true stars here.
Eventually the girls took a break from the intense choreography and joined Skrillex behind his massive DJ booth. The dubstep prince began mixing and mashing with their metal-pop tune, creating a head-banging dance beat with the Babymetal ladies rocking out behind him.
It was an epic end to Ultra Japan 2015 and is (hopefully!) the beginning of a beautiful musical friendship between Skrillex and Babymetal—we're getting excited just thinking about how insane a collaboration would sound.
