It's that time again, the day when we hear who's been dubbed cool enough for Rock and Rock Hall of Fame consideration. The criteria? The artist/group's first album or single has to have been released no later than 1990. Meaning 25+ years spent in the game in a commercial capacity.

The 2016 Rock and Rock Hall of Fame first-time nominees:

Janet Jackson
Chaka Khan
The Cars
The J.B.'s
Los Lobos
Cheap Trick
Steve Miller

And the 2016 Rock and Rock Hall of Fame repeat nominees:

Chic (10th time!)
N.W.A (fourth time)
Deep Purple (third time)
The Spinners (third time)
Nine Inch Nails
The Smiths

This is the fourth year fans can vote "alongside the more than 800 artists, historians and music industry insiders of the Rock Hall voting body," Rolling Stone writes. You can vote on the Rock Hall's site till December 9; the inductees will be announced later that month and inducted in April 2016 in New York City.
