Bette Midler Explains Why 'Hocus Pocus 2' Might Not Happen

In late 2014, Entertainment Weekly reminds us, Bette Midler advised eager Redditors on how to get a sequel to 1993's Hocus Pocus: “Inundate the Disney company. Because I have canvassed the girls and they are willing to do it, but we have no say in it, so if you want a Hocus Pocus 2, ask the Walt Disney company."

It sounds like not much has changed since then, although the 69-year-old singer/actress at least has a sense of humor about it, tweeting to her co-stars Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy:

(The virgin bit, for the uninitiated, is a reference to the moment the Sanderson sisters—witches all—were freed in Hocus Pocus. A virgin lit the all-important candle at the devilish trio's house.)

Back in the same Reddit Ask Me Anything session, Midler reflected on the beloved film:

"I had no idea it had such a powerful effect! We had a LOT of fun making it, and the stories are legendary. I was very proud of Winnie, because that was the first—and really one of the only times—I disappeared in a movie."

Give her the chance to disappear into Winnie again, Disney! In time for next Halloween! Or even Easter!
