After stints on American Idol and The X Factor, Simon Cowell is bringing his critiquing abilities back to the U.S. for America's Got Talent.

The biting Brit will replace departing AGT judge Howard Stern on the NBC reality competition for next year's Season 11. Cowell made the announcement on the Today Show on Thursday (Oct. 22).

Cowell is already an executive producer and creator on the high-rated reality show, and now he joins its judging panel. Though Cowell replaces Stern, it's unclear whether current judges Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel and Mel B (a.k.a. Scary Spice) will also return, along with host Nick Cannon.

"About five or six years ago, I was offered the chance to be on the show and, at the time, I couldn't do it," Cowell told USA Today. "But I was a bit disappointed that I wasn't able to. For the years [Stern] was on the show, he did a great job. I think at the point we really knew Howard wasn't going to come back, we then had serious conversations with NBC. I thought, 'I think this is the right time.' So, I'm excited about it."

Simon helped discover Susan Boyle as a judge on the U.K.'s Britain's Got Talent, so fingers crossed he finds some fresh talent during the upcoming stint.
