Adele's "Hello" Accused of Copying Tom Waits Song
In today's case of this-is-sorta-similar-is-it-a-RIPOFF? music news, Adele's "Hello" is being accused of stealing the basic premise of Tom Waits' song "Martha," from his 1973 album Closing Time.
The accusations are mostly coming from Twitter users, and mostly stem from the similarities in the opening verses. Here's how Adele's new No. 1 smash opens:
"Hello, it's me / I was wondering if after all these years you'd like to meet / To go over everything / They say that time's supposed to heal ya, but I ain't done much healing."
