There’s “too soon,” and then there’s “waaaaay too soon.” Archspire singer Oliver Rae Aleron’s wisecracks about the Paris terrorist attacks, which he reportedly posted on social media on Friday night (Nov. 13), fell into the latter category.

According to, the frontman for the Vancouver death metal group sent out two regrettable posts on Friday night as the tragedy in Paris was unfolding. Hostages were taken and executed at Le Bataclan concert venue by armed terrorists during an Eagles of Death Metal performance.

“All jokes aside, I am truly shocked and appalled by what happened in France tonight,” Aleron’s post read. “I just can’t believe that even in this day and age there are still groups of people so ignorant and self destructive that they would actually pay money to see a band as awful as ‘The Eagles of Death Metal’”.

An earlier post from Aleron read, “Working in a french restaurant tonight, I’m wondering if taking a few ‘Shots’ after work may be in poor taste…”

A rep for Archspire has not returned Fuse’s request for comment. Formed in 2009, the band released the album The Lucid Collective last year.
