Last month, Gwen Stefani made her return with a striking music video, a nonstop, stark close-up take of her face. The duration consisted essentially of the No Doubt frontwoman belting out her new single, the love-lost ballad "Used to Love You," through her wounded eyes alone.

So her 2015 AMAs performance seemed bound to be a tear-jerker, and it delivered. With the music video playing behind her in triplicate, Gwen, dressed in a sleek spidery getup, nailed the entire acrobatic vocal performance with power to spare. As a bonus, Clueless co-stars Alicia Silverstone and Jeremy Sisto intro'd Stefani.

Gwen's building up to her first solo album since 2006's The Sweet Escape. No Doubt put out Push and Shove in 2012 after an 11-year pause of their own. Stefani recently revealed on Beats 1 that she thinks she's recorded "enough for probably two albums. I have to write a few more songs, because I feel like, might as well keep going while it's there."
