For the second time in a row, One Direction won the artist of the year at the American Music Awards. The British boy band took home the top prize at the 2015 AMAs on Sunday night (Nov. 22), one week after their fifth (and final, for now) album was released, and a group hug ensued.
"This is a testament to how incredible our fans are," Louis Tomlinson told the crowd upon taking the stage. One Direction also won the fan-voted honor last year, and trumped artists like Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande to snag the 2015 prize.
Liam Payne added that One Direction was going away for now, but that, "AMAs, we've got so many great memories. Thank you for having us."
One Direction's Made In the A.M. debuted at No. 2 on this week's Billboard 200 albums chart, behind Justin Bieber's Purpose. Click here for a full recap of 1D's "Perfect" AMAs performance.
