Adele’s “Hello” Supercut: Watch E.T., Garth & Dozens More Movie Characters

You set yourself up for this one, Adele. By coming back with such a starkly worded, accessible single in “Hello,” you’ve given the Internet the perfect chance to do a lyric supercut.

YouTuber Matthijs Vlot has chopped up the 25 hit with a long series of movie snippets to incredible effect, creating what might be the must-watch of the week.

Among the "Hello" singers are Big Bird, half the cast of Star Wars, Ron Burgundy, E.T., Dirk Diggler, Harry Potter, Homer Simpson, Borat, Ali G and Beauty and the Beast's Lumière. Actors you’ll spy include Arnold Schwarzenegger, Scarlett Johansson, Bruce Lee, Jim Carrey and a fresh-faced Leonardo DiCaprio.

It’s not just that the selection is wide and familiar, though. The way the heavy piano melody of Adele’s “Hello” interacts with the ambience of the various clips is a new type of brilliance. Matthijs Vlot has also created videos centered around Breaking Bad, “Thriller” and Radiohead’s “Creep.”
