The long-standing file-sharing news site TorrentFreak has shared its 2015 piracy numbers, and we've got a new/old winner/loser with Game of Thrones. For the fourth year in a row, the HBO mega-hit is the most-downloaded TV show on the internet. An estimated 14.4 million season five downloads were tracked through BitTorrent.

In June, the season finale was downloaded roughly 1.5 million times in the first eight hours it was online. It broke a record when more than 258,131 people were clocked sharing one version of the episode at the same time. Lower-quality 480p downloads are statistically more popular than the hi-def 720p and 1080p versions.

"More than half of the downloads occurred in the first week after the show aired and the total exceeds the number of traditional viewers in the U.S.," TorrentFreak writes. "The Walking Dead and Big Bang Theory complete the top three with an estimated 6.9 and 4.4 million downloads respectively."
