We’re still processing our shock at (a) Jared Leto playing the Joker in summer 2016’s Suicide Squad and (b) what Leto’s version of the Joker looks like.
Leto’s feeling good about his big part in the the baddie posse flick, though. On Monday (Nov. 30), the Thirty Seconds to Mars frontman posted an Instagram meme—unclear if he created it or grabbed it from someplace—featuring Jack Nicholson’s Joker standing paternally behind Heath Ledger’s Joker. “Don’t worry,” it says, “Leto will make us proud.” Leto’s caption is a single green heart emoji.
Directed by David Ayer (who helmed Fury and End of Watch, wrote Training Day and The Fast and the Furious), Suicide Squad stars Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Will Smith as Deadshot, and Cara Delevingne as Enchantress. Viola Davis, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Common, Joel Kinnaman and Jai Courtney will also appear—as will Ben Affleck’s Batman. (Speaking of whom: There's a new Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice teaser today!)
