Sandra Bullock’s family just got bigger, with the actress adopting a 3-year-old daughter named Laila. Five years ago, around the time of her split from skeezy motorcycle man Jesse James, Bullock revealed she had adopted a baby boy named Louis.
“My family is blended and diverse, nutty, and loving and understanding. That’s a family,” Bullock tells People, which has the Oscar-winner on the cover with both her children in a picture snapped by her boyfriend, photographer Bryan Randall. The mag writes that Bullock “hopes to shine a light on the 415,129 children currently in foster care in the U.S.”

The actress says “Louis spearheaded this whole journey” toward getting a sister, adding that the transition from foster home life to a new family was tricky. “I knew she was scared, and all I wanted was for her to know Louis and I weren’t going anywhere,” she says.
People notes that privacy for adopted foster children and parents is a primary concern. That explains why, in October, during press rounds for her new movie Our Brand Is Crisis, Bullock had to keep on her poker face when asked about adopting a second child, telling the Associated Press:
”There is only one adopted child in my household, and his name is Louis… If I had a second adopted child, everyone would be hearing about it. I would be loud and clear and say, 'Yes, I have officially adopted a second child.' Right now, Louis must be it."
Stellar acting as always, Sandra.
