Spice Girls are reportedly plotting a 2016 reunion to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their ubiquitous single "Wannabe" – if only they can sort out the logistics.
Scary Spice/Mel B (Melanie Brown) teased the possibility during Alan Carr's Chatty Man New Year's Eve Specstacular, Mirror reports. "I think I'm the one putting all the rumors out there," she told the audience. "To be serious, it is our 20th anniversary this year, and it would be rude not to celebrate, so hopefully something will be happening pretty soon."
Of course, that's far from a formal announcement, and several group members have recently made comments suggesting the reunion could be in jeopardy. According to a previous Mirror report, a tour could be "in crisis" as Posh Spice (Victoria Beckham) is busy with her fashion empire and dislikes live performing. In addition, Sporty Spice/Mel C (Melanie Chisholm) will "only sign the dotted line if all the cogs are in place" – including Posh's participation. The group members have reportedly been "bickering" over potential management for 2016 shows.
Mel B hinted about a reunion to Billboard in November, saying, "Once we sort everything out, we make an announcement, but right now we’re just figuring it all out. Next year is our 20th anniversary, so we’re really just trying to make sure something happens."
Spice Girls last reunited for the 2012 Summer Olympic Games closing ceremony in London.
