"Gritty" is definitely a word the Weeknd had in mind when creating the official music video for new single "In The Night," which was released on Tuesday (Dec. 8) and finds the R&B star immersing himself in a world of gangsters, guns and pretty girls.
One of those pretty girls happens to be the Weeknd's real-life main squeeze, Bella Hadid, who leads a crew of dancers in a bloody takedown of a particularly lecherous version of the Asian mob. At six-and-a-half minutes, the "In The Night" clip is a gift to grindhouse fans, and has a climax that nods to Kill Bill Vol. 1 in a big way.
"In The Night" follows "Can't Feel My Face" and "The Hills," both No. 1 smashes for the Weeknd. His new album, Beauty Behind The Madness, was nominated for an album of the year GRAMMY earlier this week.
