Last week, Adele seized the world's attention again as the guest on the Late Late Show with James Corden's latest installment of Carpool Karaoke. She and the lovely-voiced Corden (he starred in Into the Woods, people!) ran through hits like "Hello" and "Someone Like You" and tore through the Spice Girls' "Wannabe" and the Nicki Minaj verse on Kanye West's "Monster." (Which was so hot it sent the five-year-old rap classic into the Top 40 of iTunes' songs chart.)
In five days the clip scored 42 million views, making it "the most viral video any late-night TV show has produced since 2013," Variety reports. They added, "Relative to the other late-night kings, the Adele clip already ranks among the top 10 most viewed late night videos of the past year."
The last fastest-riser was the Captain America: Civil War trailer that premiered on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in November; that one got 31 million streams in a week. The biggest Carpool Karaoke overall is still Justin Bieber's May 2015 edition, which has 53.2 million views as of this publication. At this time, the Adele one has 44.9 million views.
