Watch Christina Aguilera Cover John Lennon’s “Mother”

At a star-studded L.A. party thrown by producer-songwriter Linda Perry on Tuesday night (Jan. 5), Christina Aguilera emerged to perform a dazzling rendition of John Lennon’s solo song, “Mother.”

The night reportedly turned into an all-out karaoke session at the private club Community, with Courtney Love playing Radiohead’s “Creep” and Juliette Lewis singing AC/DC’s “Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap,” among other impromptu performances. Naturally, Aguilera (whom Perry worked with on the smash hit “Beautiful”) stole the show.

The event was in celebration of the movie Freeheld, starring Julianne Moore and Ellen Page. Perry’s original song from the film, “Hands of Love,” is performed by Miley Cyrus and is vying for an Oscar nomination (Cyrus was not in attendance on Tuesday night).
