Deftones guitarist Stephen Carpenter has revealed the release date for the alt-metal veterans' eighth studio album, a follow-up to 2012's Koi No Yokan.
"[We're] sitting around, waiting for the release of our record. It comes out April 8th," he told an interviewer this week during the National Association of Music Merchants in Anaheim, California, Alternative Press reports.
Carpenter also mentions some Texas tour dates for March, followed by European festival dates, though neither the shows nor release date have been officially confirmed anywhere else.
Deftones frontman Chino Moreno previously teased the band's "heady" new direction in a March 2015 interview with Rolling Stone. "I feel like we've gone into the songs and really dissected them," he said. "If something sounded a little straight, we took a left turn and made things a little screwy. We just tried something completely opposite, not to sabotage it, but to challenge ourselves and try new things that we haven't done in the past."
