Per EW, the singer/actress revealed backstage to the press, "You know, I am putting out an album this year. I won't tell you when!" confirming that the follow-up to 2014's Cheek to Cheek and her first solo album since 2013's Artpop will be out in 2016.
Gags also spoke a little about what we can expect visually from her upcoming era, and how her role in AHS will inspire it:
"That's a difficult thing to say as I don't know that you yet know what I will look like for my next album, as I'm still creating all of those things. It's something that is a gradual change always with me...What was nice about playing The Countess is it reminded me that in my own life and in my music, I'm always—at times—playing a character, and I become them fully. And living inside of her was liberating, I'll tell you, because she doesn’t give a shit about anything."
So far, we've heard Gaga's new disco-pop song "I Want Your Love" that was used in a Tom Ford promo, and know she's working with Mark Ronson, which might hint that LG5 will be a funk or throwback-inspired record, but there's no official word about the direction.
