Tweet's "Magic" Reminds Us Why We Fell in Love With the Neo-Soul Siren
While the word has taking on a new meaning in the last decade, Tweet originally referred to the Missy Elliott/Timbaland protege who enticed R&B fans with her brand of neo-soul-meets-hip-hop and songs like "Oops (Oh My)" and "Take Away." After a slew of label changes, the GRAMMY-nominated singer is back with a new album, Charlene, out next month, and we just got the latest taste of it via a new cut, "Magic."
R&B fans will dig the bouncy, old-school beat and anyone with ears will enjoy Tweet's silky-smooth harmonies that glide like butter over a biscuit fresh out of the oven. For longtime Tweet fans, "Magic" somewhat recalls Southern Hummingbird cut "Beautiful," but the singer's harmonies sound tighter and more mature, indicating exciting things to come on Tweet's upcoming full-length.
