It's no secret that Leonardo Dicaprio has yet to earn an Academy Award throughout his notable career in Hollywood. The actor been nominated for an Oscar six times, but hasn't managed to emerge from the ceremony with a golden statuette in hand. Dicaprio is in contention tonight for the Best Actor award for his role in The Revenant, and he apparently has a new supporter in Adele, who thinks Leo is way overdue for the accolade.

Adele tweeted at Dicaprio on this morning: “Good luck Leo! Everyone loves you because you're the best. Meet me at the clock anytime bruv X.” The singer's mention of "the clock tower" is a reference to Titanic, the 1997 blockbuster that saw Dicaprio star alongside Kate Winslet.

Adele is fresh off a string of scintillating performances at the GRAMMYs and BRIT Awards, wherein she performed choice tracks from her new album 25. Dicaprio faces stiff competition tonight from the likes of Eddie Redmayne, Michael Fassbender, Bryan Cranston and Matt Damon.

The 88th Academy Awards airs on ABC at 8:30 p.m. eastern and 5:30 p.m. pacific.
