All you need is bugs—to get permission to use The Beatles' music in your Netflix animated series. A new trailer for Beat Bugs reveals that the kid's show will feature Fab 4 covers by Sia, Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder, Pink, Of Monsters and Men, Chris Cornell, Regina Spektor, Birdy and the lovable Late Late Show host/Carpool Karaoke mastermind James Corden.
“It’s a family-oriented story that uses the narratives and perhaps [the] best melodies of all time to tell stories of joy, happiness, community and adventure," Australian creator Josh Wakely tells USA Today. He says people "would roll their eyes" at his idea to secure the rights to The Beatles' songs; he thought it'd take four months and it ended up taking three years.
Among the 52 (!) tunes that will appear: "Magical Mystery Tour" (that's Vedder singing it in the trailer), "Blackbird," "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds," "With A Little Help from My Friends," "Get Back" and "We Can Work It Out."
Beat Bugs Season 1 will debut this August; Netflix has already ordered a second season. The Beatles' catalog recently went to Spotify and other streaming services for the first time.
