Chance the Rapper, a featured performer on Kanye West's "Ultralight Beam," has offered fans some context about the gospel-styled Life of Pablo highlight by annotating several lyrics at Genius. Chance says he wrote the lyric "Just throw this at the end if I'm too late for the intro" because the track sequencing was originally different, Fader reports. "This song was gonna be the outro and there it kinda made more sense," he writes. "But its a reference to God’s covenant with us after flooding the world."

The rapper also explains the inspiration for the "damn, Gina!" line (a reference to Fox sitcom Martin) and why he refers to himself as "Tubman of the underground": "The Tubman line refers to my own leadership of all other artists towards independence and freedom," he writes.

Chance delivered his buzzed-about verse during Kanye's SNL performance on Saturday, February 13, during which the latter announced the sort-of release of his long-awaited new LP, The Life of Pablo. Chance played a huge role in the album, even persuading Kanye to re-include "Waves" on the track list.
