On Saturday evening, Kanye West performed on Saturday Night Live, and announced the release of his much-hyped new album, The Life of Pablo. 'Ye's performance of the songs "Highlights" and "Ultra Light Beam" was marked by some pretty outlandish stunts, like turning SNL's stage into a neon light-show. Throughout his first public performance in support of TLOP, Yeezus was majorly feeling himself—but what else are we to expect from the artist behind the best album of all time?
Before Kanye announced (somewhat unintelligibly) that The Life of Pablo had been released on his website Saturday evening, the rapper performed another track from the album, albeit in the form of a rap battle, wherein he squared up against SNL cast-member Kyle Mooney. Check out the clip below to see 'Ye firmly squash Mooney's attempt to steal his lyrical thunder by spitting a few verses from the track "I Miss the Old Kanye."
Yeesh, by the looks of the clip, Mooney clearly wasn't ready to enter the lyrical shark-tank with Kanye.
The rest of Yeezy's SNL performance saw guest-spots from Chance the Rapper, Young Thug, El Debarge, Kelly Price, and The Dream, who together took the stage before a throng of back-up singers.
The Life of Pablo is available for $20 via Tidal. It's also streaming for Tidal users, including those who sign up for a free 30-day trial. If you need a TLOP roadmap, here's Fuse's exhaustive guide to the record.
