Lil Wayne Originally Thought Beyoncé Was Doing ‘Rhythm Nation’ at the Super Bowl

Rapper and sports enthusiast Lil Wayne once again stopped by ESPN’s SportsCenter to discuss many topics, including his upcoming joint project with 2 Chainz. Along with that, however, Weezy discussed Beyoncé’s Super Bowl performance—which was the live debut of her new single “Formation,” but Wayne initially thought she was playing a Janet Jackson classic.

“I enjoyed everything about it,” Wayne said of the performance. “I just got it mixed up. I thought it was the ‘Rhythm Nation.’ I was like, ‘Ooh, they came out with the Janet Jackson ‘Rhythm Nation.’ But that just shows you how young I am.”

Of course, Lil Wayne co-starred in a Super Bowl commercial, and had some words of wisdom for losing quarterback Cam Newton. He also discussed ColleGrove, which is his first project alongside 2 Chainz.

Weezy and 2 Chainz recently stopped by The Tonight Show to perform “Rolls Royce Weather Everything” with the Roots. Watch that performance here.
