Smashing Pumpkins Announce 'Acoustic-Electro' Tour
The Smashing Pumpkins are going out for a month-long "acoustic-electro evening" run called the In Plainsong Tour—the same name as another brief traveling gig they did in 2015. Liz Phair will open the shows.
Billy Corgan's current sidekick musicians are Jimmy Chamberlin and Jeff Schroeder; last year The Pumpkins released their ninth studio album, Monuments to an Elegy. A press release announcing the tour claims that the band's 2015 End Times Tour yielded the band's best ticket sales in more than 12 years. Manager Peter Katsis says:
"What started as an interest in playing a truly different kind of show and looking for a different way to explore their storied musical past morphed into something new and exciting for the fans in every city. This touches the opposing side to The Pumpkins usual roar!"
