"Get My Shit Together" serves as an under-pressure anthem, as "Going all night/Please pray for us" is one of the first lines we hear before Sean tackles a ton of grown-up issues. He goes in on success ("I'm still taking more risks than I do suggestions") and love ("I've been choosing wrong girls my whole life / I hope I don't fail the test again / And have her going through my texts again, religiously / Like it's the Old Testament / And end up single alone and stressed again") throughout "Get My Shit Together," bouncing between the two pursuits of fame and affection as he repeats the title's mantra. Sean did indeed get a little older and wise on March 25, and it shows with this intense nod to adulthood.
Big Sean has been keeping busy lately: He hopped onstage at the Staples Center in Los Angeles to perform alongside Justin Bieber at the start of the pop star's Purpose World Tour, and before that, Sean spoke with CNN about his charitable efforts in his hometown of Detroit. "Get My Shit Together" could be the sign of bigger things to come, as Sean's due for the follow-up to 2015's Dark Sky Paradise.
