Britney Spears Gives an Update on her New Album in 'V' Magazine

The Britney Spears takeover is back! The pop star just landed not one, not two—but three covers for V magazine's 100th issue. Spears, who rarely does magazine appearances, looks incredibly sultry while rocking various black mesh and leather outfits.

This marks the singer's first time fronting the fashion publication since Spring 2011. Her latest editorial is shot by Mario Testino and includes a cover story by former MTV reporter John Norris—which is the perfect tie-in for the Spears, since he once dominated the music and television network.

V's editor-in-chief Stephen Gan spoke to WWD about the cover selection:

“When looking for cover-worthy subjects for our 100th issue, we had to ask ourselves: Who do pop stars and musicians — who have become an integral part of what V represents—look up to and admire?”“There was only one answer: Britney….[W]ho in our world did not grow up listening to her music? Plus, she’s spent some time out of the ether, which makes her reappearance all the more fun and surprising. Mario Testino’s pictures say it all: she’s in great shape, and about to hit us with new music any day now.”

In the issue, Britney discusses her upcoming album. “Honestly, I’m just particular with this record. It’s my baby, and so I really want it done right. I would much rather have it be completely how I want it to be, whether that takes another year for me to do, or two months." She continued, "I have no idea at this point. But I just know that the direction I’m going in is so good. It’s the best thing I’ve done in a long time. I’m proud of the work, and it’s very different; it’s not what you would think at all. But I’m not rushing anything. I just want it to be done right, so that my fans will truly appreciate it.”

Last month, manager Larry Rudolph claimed that her ninth studio album is "about 80 percent of the way done." Based on this new magazine cover rollout, her next era could be starting very soon. View the singer's alternative V covers below (the issue will go on sale March 8), and click here for our round-up of her hottest video looks!
