Christina Aguilera is currently busy being the diva-tastic judge on the 10th season of The Voice, but diehard fans are ready and waiting for new music. In a recent interview with The UAE's The National, DJ Premier weighed in on the singer's current musical headspace.
“We spoke to each other and we do want to get together again. Because of her commitments with The Voice she only recorded a couple of songs and she is not in album mode right now. But when she is then I’m ready," the DJ/producer told the news source.
He also revealed that he has his mind set on getting in the studio with popstar du jour—Justin Bieber: “He is not that same little kid that he was 10 years ago and he can actually sing. It’s not like something not good will come out of it."
DJ Premier and Aguilera first teamed up on her 2006 album Back to Basics, where the producer lent his hand on five tracks. But contrary to his recent claims, the diva is in fact ready to shell out new music. Last month, she shared an album update with The Hollywood Reporter:
“I’ve been loosely working on it the last couple of years. But I really started toward the middle and end of last year to really buckle down and meet with new collaborators and producers, people I want to work with and people I have never worked with before. I can’t say much about it yet because I want to wait until it’s good and ready. I am working on it and will be ready when it can be the authentic masterpiece that it deserves to be. But later this year, most likely."
