Essence Music Festival returns this summer and boasts yet another impressive lineup catered towards R&B, soul and hip-hop fans.

Kendrick Lamar, Mariah Carey and Ciara lead the New Orleans fest's lineup that includes classic veteran acts (New Edition, Babyface, Faith Evans, Kelly Price) alongside up-and-comers (Leon Bridges, DeJ Loaf, BJ the Chicago Kid, Eric Bellinger, and Lion Babe). 

Festivalgoers will also get some unique music experiences with NOLA's own Preservation Jazz Hall Band, and even some international musicians like Zakes Bantwini and Skye Wanda, both hailing from South Africa.

"The Essence Festival is back in New Orleans with an extraordinary roster of the biggest names and best performers in entertainment—from global music icons to the industry's rising stars," Essence president Michelle Ebanks said in a statement.
