Now that Archie Andrews and Jughead Jones have gotten their modern comic book reboots, Betty Cooper and Veronica Lodge are up. The new series, written and drawn by Adam Hughes, will debut July 20 with a 32-page issue.
"It’s good to have a book where it’s just about them, where the boys are just background characters,” Hughes tells Vulture. "I want my Betty & Veronica to be timely and relevant, but not dated in 10 years."
The first issue will deal with Betty and Veronica sparring over a coffee conglomerate replacing Pops’ Chocklit Shoppe. "Friendships will shatter. Cities will burn. Nails will be broken," reads an official announcement.
