UPDATE (4/11, 2:45PM): According to the Las Vegas Sun, Britney Spears' lead single—cheekily titled "Make Me (Oooh)"—will arrive next month. Robin Leach, the same person who shared the original album information, reportedly confirmed a music video is being shot on Monday and the new single will follow in four weeks.
Once that is all wrapped up, the pop princess' ninth LP will allegedly drop a month after "Make Me (Oooh)." The source told the Las Vegas Sun:
“’The single and the video will thrill fans because it’s all new, totally different and somewhat unexpected. It’s different; it’s a turn. She’s gone from pretty straight-forward pop to a really interesting vibe with a lot of really cool stuff."
Original Story, 4/10 at 10:30AM: Britney Spears' long awaited ninth studio album is due in May. This news comes from Robin Leach—the guy who used to host Lifestyles of The Rich and Famous, the heavily-syndicated program that profiled the glitzy lives of celebrities throughout the '80s and '90s.
Britney is slated to select the lead single from her forthcoming record tomorrow (April 11), and shoot the video a week later, (April 18). Per Leach, Ms. Spears will elaborate on this news via Vegas Deluxe, the 72-year-old's entertainment column in the Las Vegas Sun newspaper.
Leach tweeted the announcement late Saturday evening (April 9), ostensibly while wearing a silk smoking jacket and sipping Chablis on a yacht. Read the tweet with his charming British accent in mind:
Spears has been firmly rooted in Las Vegas for a while, performing Britney: Piece of Me, a career retrospective which has been in residency at the Axis Auditorium since 2013. That show recently got extended until 2017, so Spears and Sin City seem to be a perfect match. Viva la Britney.
