It’s been a big year for G Herbo. In September of last year, the Chicago rapper dropped his debut studio album Humble Beast to positive reviews lauding his lyrics which were full of stark imagery and introspection. But earlier this year Herbo really hit his stride when he posted a video of himself free styling to the beat from Three 6 Mafia’s “Who Run It.” G Herbo was undeniable, and he kept that momentum with his sophomore album, a collab with Southside, Swervo. Swervo, which dropped in July of this year, told a different story and brought a different energy than Humble Beast, told from the perspective of a more rash and hardened alter ego. Herbo has the range, but does he enjoy being Swervo or Humble more?
