The tears have been streaming endlessly from basketball fans this week, as Kobe Bryant will be playing his last professional game on Wednesday (Apr. 13). But prior to his final showing, Kendrick Lamar is paying tribute to the basketball icon.
In a new ESPN clip, the Compton rapper exclaims, “It’s just a trip to be doing this right now. Kobe really retiring.” Lamar also provides the soundtrack to the tribute, as untitled unmastered's "Levitate" plays while highlighting Bryant's best career moments with the Los Angeles Lakers.
The athlete played for 20 seasons with the team, and helped to win five championships—so to say he will be missed is an understatement. After viewing the ESPN tribute above, check out our throwback Fuse interview with Kendrick at last year's Bonnaroo fest below.
