On a Coachella day brimming with special guests, the surprise appearance of Kesha was an unequivocal highlight on Saturday (Apr. 16), as the pop star stepped away from her disheartening legal battle with Dr. Luke to perform at the festival during Zedd's set.
The EDM star invited the "very special guest" onstage, and Kesha emerged with a large hat covering her blonde locks and face. She performed "True Colors," a Zedd track which has Tim James credited on vocals but was rumored to feature Kesha prior to its release.
Although the song had been previously released, Kesha treated the moment as a dramatic, drums-heavy statement, digging in deep to the defiant lyrics. "I won't apologize for the fire in my eyes, let me show you my true colors," she belted underneath dimmed blue lights.
Zedd was one of numerous artists to offer their support for Kesha during her ongoing legal battle with Dr. Luke. The "Clarity" producer offered to work with Kesha as a way to show support; there's no word on whether or not a new collaboration is coming.
