Former One Direction hunk Zayn Malik released his debut solo album on March 25, 2016, exactly one year after he announced his departure from the British boy band that made his career. It seemed like catty move, but at any rate, it paid off for the sensitive singer: Mind of Mine hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200. This is Malik's fifth No. 1 album stateside, including the 1D full-lengths Up All Night, Take Me Home, Midnight Memories and Four.

Perhaps most interesting is that Z broke a record in his native U.K. Mind of Mine hit No. 1 across the pond, too, making him the only male U.K. solo artist to debut at No. 1 with their first album.
