BET Throws Major Shade at Billboard Awards, Promises Better Prince Tribute

Madonna and Stevie Wonder sang "Purple Rain" to pay tribute to the late Prince on Sunday night (May 22) during the Billboard Music Awards. It was a tad lackluster, but still, it was an honest homage. There were a few critical tweets floating around, but BET decided to go in.

The BET Awards teased their own show on June 26 with images of Prince's face and symbol. And then, the shady text: "Yeah, we saw that. Don't worry. We Got You."

Now, the question stands: would Prince have appreciated that level of petty?

But, shall we not forget that BET has done a Prince tribute before? In 2010, Trey Songz tried to pay him respect onstage at the BET Awards and spurred many a shady reaction GIF from Prince:
