Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani started their relationship while coaches on The Voice, so it makes sense that when it came time to perform their duet, they did it on the NBC show. Although Gwen isn't a coach this season, she's still family on the singing competition.
The two lovers provided prolonged eye contact as they sang "Go Ahead and Break My Heart," a song off Shelton's If I'm Honest, out May 20. The song was released a few hours before their Monday night (May 9) performance.
The song is all about surrendering to a breakup, asking the other person to hurry up and do the damage in order to get it out of the way. After all, if someone has their mind made up about leaving, they might as well just rip off the bandage ASAP. "Go Ahead and Break My Heart" is a perfect tune for both Shelton and Stefani, who have made their recent albums about their personal struggles with breakups—Blake with ex-wife Miranda Lambert and Gwen with ex-husband Gavin Rossdale.
After the performance, they took to Instagram for an adorable selfie to wrap everything up. Aww!
